about

After crafting one of the most impressive label debuts we had for years with his 2019's Non-deterministic Polynomial Poems, Vlad Dobrovolski brings another finest contribution to Klammklang's catalogue. His Natursymphony No.3 titled Vibrant Matters is more than just an exquisitely organised sonic environment. It behaves like a living organism: it moves, it appears to be completely organic on a structural level, and it breathes. Using silence as a framework for anticipation, it inhales and exhales, while the hushed tension shapeshifting into uncannily familiar melodies one can only recognise on a subliminal level.

Like Vlad's previous instalments, Vibrant Matters utilises some bizarre acoustic instruments: coconut, horn and shrub root flutes played by composer himself, and various metallic percussions sounds contributed by Yoshio Machida, a multifaceted Japanese artist known for his sonic experiments and advanced steel pan performing techniques. It also features another special guest appearance from Kurvenschreiber; a fellow collective of Russian sound practitioners bring some results of their synthesizers exploration to the table, resulting a fantastic opening track. In its entirety, the third Natursymphony (incidentally, No.1 and No.2 do not exist yet) is an animated microcosmos of sound and a true adventure for your ears. But more importantly it's just music that perfectly resonates with your heart.

A word to the author himself:

«From a certain point of view, the ancient world was an exciting place to live. It was not only inhabited with people but also many other nature beings. The traditions of the past stirred people's imagination, and their everyday life always had the element of mysticism which sometimes resulted in visions and omens. Even though some of our ancestors lived in straitened circumstances, they never risked to become enlightened, which nowadays is happening by default. Following their rationalistic simplifying eagerness, the people of today want to get rid of anything (super)natural, even the good-natured Brownie – the last survived spirit under the reign of ratio-capitalism.

This way of denying the past is something we will regret for sure. Mentally impotent, like indolent bubbles of protein inflated with information we wander in between football stars, face-polished social media simulacra and status-dependent robots of everydayness. I look back to the world we lost with regret and melancholy. It was the world where farms were full of life with their barns weren't empty; where the forests were still here, not destroyed. Of course the social situation wasn't the best, our ancestors were no angels wearing human clothes. But there were things we keep forgetting: nearness between people, the joy of small things and incidents, a common knowledge that human being is a dust thou art, and so shall it remain no matter how much we shout and rummage into the planet surface. While working on this album, I wanted to grasp and bring some of these special things I remember since I was a kid».
